Well it's Friday and in lieu of doing a podcast today I decided that I would post this funny little rap that was heard locally in Atlanta on The Regular Guys morning show on Rock 100.5 It is entitled "We're Going to Have a BBQ on Pennsylvania Avenue." Enjoy!

Future Podcast Plans
So I plans to begin doing the daily podcasts again like I was doing right before the election. I just needed some time to recover and get revved up about politics again. Anyways, I will start next week officially with new short podcasts three times a week. There may be one this week as well, but everything will kick off officially next week. Also, we will be doing many more LIVE BROADCASTS with our friends over at GreaterAtlanta.com in future. Those are a lot of fun because we can have callers and get real-time responses from people. It is a great way for open discussion about the political scene. So be on the lookout for that real soon. And remember...next week...

I Met Sarah Palin Today
Yeah so I went to the Saxby Chambliss for Senate rally today at the Gwinnett Arena. Saxby brought in Sarah Palin to get people fired up. I arrived at the arena around 1PM. They let us in out of the cold around 2:15PM. Saxby and Sarah took the stage a tad after 4PM. Then they did the rounds and shook hands & signed items. It was quite cool. I was lucky enough to get in the front and got to spend a good two or three minutes with Sarah Palin about two feet in front of me. Quite the experience. Here are some pics:

More LIVE Broadcasts
Well now that the 2008 Presidential Election is finally over, some things are going to change over here at Griffin2024.com One thing is that we will now be doing weekly live broadcasts in the interest of keeping the conservative voice alive in this great country of ours. We plan to be a system of checks and balances, if you will, for the United States and President-Elect Barack Obama. These weekly broadcasts will provide a great opportunity for you and fellow Americans to voice your opinions and thoughts on what is happening in our country.
With that said, I do believe that it is our job now as Americans to support our newly elected president. We do not have to agree with him all of the time, but we must respect and support him as much as we can. However, when he makes a mistake or takes our country down the wrong road, it is also our job to voice that to the rest of America.
Anyhoo, the details about the upcoming LIVE broadcasts will be posted soon. Stay tuned.

How Dare She Ask Tough Questions
Here's a video that is making the rounds on the internet this weekend. It involves a local anchor from Orlando asking Joe Biden some actual tough, legit questions. After the interview, the Obama-Biden campaign decided to no longer offer this station anymore interviews.

Podcast Thoughts for 10/24/08
Some thoughts in the middle of this latest podcast got cut out by computer error. I basically was saying that because of his associations with people like Wright, Ayers, and Renzko, Obama would not pass a security clearance to be a government employee. He would not even pass to become his own security guard. And we're about to elect this man president.

My 41 Hours
So between Friday morning and late Saturday night I stayed up for about 41 hours, and here's my recap of it.
So I woke up Friday morning around 8 or 9. Ate breakfast as I watched the last little bit of The Regular Guys on their webcam and then watched the Regular Guys Aftershow. Then I showered and went off to Panera to grab some lunch.
Of course, Panera failed once again to have the soups that I like. That's like 3 times in a row. That really bothers me. Anyways, I came back home, ate, and watched the night's before Conan. Then off to Atlanta Fest Day 2.
Day 2 of Atlanta Fest was all right. Saw Jeremy Camp, and some other smaller bands. Stayed and watched through Camp's performance. While I was there, some friends from high school notified me that they were all in town Friday night and wanted to hang out. So I left Atlanta Fest at 10:45. Went home real quick. Then off to Atlantic Station where some of my friends live. Arrived at 12:15 AM. We did some Rockband. Watched some television. Talked. Made inappropriate jokes as always. And did not sleep. I left there around 6:30 AM. Drove home. Showered. Got ready for church.
Left for church around 8AM. As I always do, stopped at Chick-fil-a to grab some breakfast. Arrived at church around 840. Unlocked the building and then ate. I had to teach the Youth Sabbath School, which went well. Of course on the day I have zero sleep, the most kids ever decide to actually come to Sabbath School. Then church starts. I made it through everything until the pastor came to speak. Once he started, I went back to the pastor's study, turned off the lights, turned on the speaker so I could hear the service, and tried to rest some on the ground. I think I may have passed out for 5 or 10 minutes...maybe. Startled, I jumped up when I heard the closing song being sung. Stayed around for a minute then took off to my home.
Arrived at the house. Changed. Then off to Atlanta Fest Day 3...the final day. Stopped at the most ridiculously ghetto gas station to grab an energy drink, a coke, and a snack. Somehow, I escaped the gas station alive. Arrived at the fest around 2. Totally zoned out for most of day 3. Just observed the people, the bands, and the drama that was occurring. Always fun. Watched all of the Casting Crowns performance and did the traditional candle lighting thingy dingy. Then us Fish Folk went to Waffle House in Stone Mountain. That was interesting. After that I somehow made the 5 minute drive home. Finally went to bed around 2 AM. However, I woke up today around noon. Don't feel too tired, but have a nice little headache.
Anyways that was that. A fun 41 hours or so.
By the way, I discovered something about my tastes in music last night. I like originality when it comes to music. Something different. I think that's why I prefer say TobyMac and Shane & Shane over Casting Crowns or Big Daddy Weave. Cowns and Weave are good, but they just sound so typical. I also love Weird Al and Tom Petty, and they're both very original. I don't know. Just something I noticed.

Twitter is In
I think I'm going to stop writing long blog posts and just use Twitter from now on. If I feel moved to write something longer than Twitter can handle, I will post it here. I included my Twitter feed in this blog. Twitter allows for much quicker, shorter thoughts and updates.

American Idull
Why the heck did the producers of American Idol decide to let the contestants sing Andrew Lloyd Webber songs this week? It was awful. One of the worst Idol shows ever. American Idol is about finding the next music superstar. And in America, music superstars aren't Broadway singers. Sure, Webber's songs are extremely good, but they're out of place on American Idol. I'm now totally convinced that American Idol producers are fixing this show. It is set up so that the little young dude, David Archuletta, makes it to the finals against the rocker, David Cook. Guaranteed. Cook is all right. He seems kinda douchey, but he's a guy who could sell mucho records. On the other hand, Archuletta blows. Yeah, he can sing well, but who cares. He will not sell any records. What genre of music would he sing? We already have one Josh Groban in this world, and one is enough. Archuletta can only sing ballads and such. I guess it would make sense for him to win though. The majority of Idol winners have gone on to fail in the music industry. Taylor Hicks? Ruben Studdard? Where's Fantasia these days? The two people who bucked that trend? Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Hmm, attractive white girls who can actually sing being successful in the music industry? Imagine that! Sorry Mr. Archuletta, you are sorta white, but you ain't no girl. Don't worry though Archuletta, Clay Aiken called me and said he would love to hang out with you.
So who do I think should win this year? The Jack Johnson-ish kid with dreads or the blonde, innocent girl. aka Jason and Brooke. At least those two are real musicians. They would both be successful if placed in the right situation. Unfortunately, American Idol isn't putting them in that situation.
I gotta stop watching this show.

Litter
Screw Green Week. Going Green. Earth Day. And all that other junk. It's just a marketing ploy by the liberal socialist pleather wearing people of this country. Don't get me wrong, I believe we should take better care of our earth. But these green people are just as looney as the PETA people. So in honor of Earth Day and Green Week, I plan on littering at least once this week, and I plan on using as much water as possible. I will also be leaving my lights on more often this week.
This is just typical liberal thinking. They create a problem (global warming) and then offer suggestions so they can fix it....a problem that in actuality does not exist. And then they look like heroes when they decide that the problem no longer exists because of all the good they did. Screw Green Week. I'm not going green for anybody. When did green become the magic color anyways? Long Live King George W Bush! Four More Years!

Joke Time
Why don't Mexicans celebrate Thanksgiving?
-Because Taco Bell is closed on Thanksgiving.
Why are Aspirins white?
-Because they work.
And finally....
Why did Hitler kill himself?
-Because he saw his gas bill.
Thank You! I'll be here all week.

75-68
yes, that was the final score of the NCAA Men's Championship Game, and I guessed it correctly when I filled out my bracket before the tournament started. Now, I didn't pick the right teams for the game, but hey I picked the exact final score. Doesn't that count for something? Anything? No? ok.
So this past weekend was pretty cool, especially Saturday night. I met real, authentic hippies. craziness indeed.
There's a new addition at the house here in Stone Mountain...a dog. not my idea. we'll see how this turns out...

Panera-noid
a pseudo-play-on-words. as in paranoid.
Yes I think paranoid is the word to describe my habit of eating at Panera Bread. I'm not paranoid about eating at Panera, but I am paranoid, or should I say Panera-noid, about how often I eat at each Panera around my area.
You see, when I am in a crunch and need to eat and have no idea what to eat. I usually resort to Panera. However, I try not to frequent any Panera more than once a week. In my head, it would look weird to go to the same place more than one time a week, especially a place like Panera. It's too easy for the workers to start noticing you there, especially if you go around the same time every time, as I do. I don't want to be noticed and I don't want to have a lot of unnecessary interaction with the workers.
So the question is....HOW DO I AVOID THIS SITUATION?
I visit a different Panera each time. There is one that is very convenient for me to go to, and there are two others that are slightly out of the way. In my whacked mind, though, I would rather drive out of the way to pick up some food than become a noticeable regular at the Panera near my house.
So now I just rotate from Panera to Panera....and sometimes to Panera. Yes, sometimes I visit there three times a week. Not necessarily out of absolute love for the food, I like the food, but the main reason is that there are relatively few choices available that serve quick, guilt-free food.
White People
I'm winning so far in my fantasy baseball league. Super!
Here's a link to a hilarious blog called "Stuff White People Like." It's so true....that's why it's funny. get it? But seriously, it is funny. Stuff White People Like
I don't know if it's on the list, but I think fantasy baseball is one of those things that only white people like.
Go Braves!

TV Tidbits
tidbit...funny word. almost sounds dirty.
One more TV thought: this is the last week of having no filler tv to watch. Why? Well because baseball is back next week. The best thing about baseball is that when nothing else is on, baseball is on. You gotta love it.
"Hey Y'all, Last Call!"
So I'm going a little B-52s crazy today, but this music kicks butt. If they don't put a smile on your face, then you're just a certified douche. The following song is about a little street corner in Athens, GA. The song is entitled "Hot Corner." good stuff.
Other Thoughts: Nice, warm weather puts me in a much better mood. I'm more motivated to do things and such. That's why I may move to San Diego or somewhere around there one day.
Do you notice that the people who are closed-minded when it comes to music are the same people who are open-minded when it comes to life and moral issues...more times than not...at least in my experiences. The same folks who refuse to listen to country music or the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus or The B-52s or whatever else are the same people who get abortions, get drunk, do drugs, and have tattoos all over their bodies.
I'm a person with very eclectic music tastes. So I find it strange when people just refuse to listen to a certain type of music...other than gangsta rap. I refuse to listen to that stuff, and no it's not because most of the rappers are black. That type of so-called music just sucks. For instance though, some people, especially folks who were born and raised in the south, refuse to listen to country music. What kind of sense does that make? I think country music is the closest thing we currently have to traditional rock and roll. It's good music....well other than the queer rascal flatts, who haven't put out a decent song in about two to three years now.
So anyways, open up to other types of music and close up to queers and tattoos.
Ultraviolet
One of my favorite songs off of the new B-52s album. It is classic B-52s. It's just too good not to share with the world. Check out the video below.
Lines of Note: "Hey there's a rest stop, let's hit the g-spot." "Keep doing what you're doing cause you're doing it right. Keep doing what you're doing cause it's what I like!"
Pepperoni
so it's warm outside today in atlanta...about time.
I bought the new B-52s album yesterday. It's their first album since 1992 or so. I only bought it b/c I remember as a little kid that my favorite song was "Love Shack." In my opinion, the CD rocks. I think they fit in very nicely with the pop music of today that leans toward the dance music genre. You have to love Fred Schnieder's spoken word singing throughout the songs. It adds a nice comedic element to the songs without being too cheese-ball.
Must Watch TV This Week: The Tonight Show on Thursday night. The guests? Conan O'brien AND Anderson Cooper. You simply cannot beat that lineup.
Douchebags of the Week: Chelsea Clinton for not answering a legit question. Grow up. When asked about the whole Monica Lewinsky thing and how it affected her mom, Chelsea answered with a "I don't think it's any of your business." How convenient. She's just like her fence-riding non-committal mother. A chip off the ol' c#nt. if you ask me.
#2: Keith Olbermann, formerly of SportsCenter and currently host of the commie-liberal program known as Countdown with Keith Olbermann. I do think he's a funny man, but he is such a douchebag as well. He makes a lot of false statements about the Bush administration daily, but he made one last night that was flat out wrong and ridiculous. He said that the troop surge failed and ripped the Bush admin. for even doing the surge. He's just an anti-american clinton-loving socialist. Hey Keith, stick to sports and lay off of Bill O'reilly or Bill-O as you call him....bill-o beats the heck out of you EVERY single night in the ratings, so until you beat him, you have no room to talk. While I agree that Bill-O is also a douchebag like yourself, more people like him as evidenced by his ratings....so shut-up keith olbermann.
American Idol Results tonight...My Prediction: Chikezie, aka the black guy, will be kicked off tonight. After re-evaluating the talent, one of these folks will be your next American Idol: Brooke White, Carly Smithson, David Cook. Guaranteed.
seacrest, out.

Return from Hiatus
Hiatus...what an interesting word. I always like it when people use that word. It is often used to describe when a TV show is not shooting and taking a break, but instead of saying that they're just on a "break," they will say that the show is currently on hiatus.
Anyways, what a great night for television last night. First off, we had Britney Spears on How I Met Your Mother. Let me say this...HIMYM is a terrific television show. I can only think of two comedies that are currently on the air that I like a tad better, The Office and 30 Rock. I'm also a Scrubs fan, but I think that HIMYM is currently better than Scrubs. What Friday Night Lights is to television drama, HIMYM is to television comedy. Just give it a chance, you shall enjoy.
Anyhoo, Mizz Spears did a great job last night on the show. I can only hope now that she will produce another song as solid as "Hit Me Baby One More Time." Let's be honest. That song was the shiz.
Back to last night's TV, Greek returned last night! Who would have ever thought that a show on ABC Family would become appointment television? Not me, that's for sure.
Then at 10, The Hills returned as well. So fake, yet so good. Honestly, a lot of last night's plot seemed totally staged. I mean seriously...a curling iron burning Lauren's dress for the big ball with only an hour until she has to be at the ball. OMG!!! What will she ever do? Definitely riveting television.
I have eaten half a pack of Life Savers while typing this.
How To Make Life Easier Tip #1: Hang out with like-minded people. When I do such, everything just happens much easier. The drama factor goes way down too when this occurs.
What a crock it is that Major League Baseball began this year in Japan. Japan, are you frickin kidding me? Baseball is AMERICA's pastime. I don't care how much those Japs like it, we liked it first and we like it better. Bud Selig is a douche for allowing this to happen. Baseball has sold its soul in hopes of what? To spread the love of baseball around the globe? FALSE. More like...to make a few extra bucks. Screw you Bud Selig.
And the Life Savers are gone...

Rain Rain, Go AWAY!
Rain is miserable. Drought is good for the soul. I have become pro-drought. Rain just makes life more complicated. Wasn't it so nice this past year when there was sun and no rain every day? I didn't realize how much I liked it until we started to have all this rain lately. The drought has not affected me at all. I still take showers, flush the toilet, use the outside hose, and wash my car. You can't stop me. I like water and I'm going to use it. I just wish it would stop hindering my life by falling out of the sky.
thoughts from chattanooga

So I'm in Chattanooga right now. Just relaxing and escaping from Atlanta for a few days. It is spring break after all. Florida or California would be nice right now, but Chattanooga is fine for now.
Maybe rockin' isn't the right move at this point and time.
Speaking of chattanooga, I found out today that one of my favorite radio stations from any place, 96.5 The Mountain, switched formats this week. They used to be a AAA station, or rock-ish type of music. Now they play top 40 music. Sure, their ratings will be better b/c they have no competition in the chatt. market with this format, but many listeners, including myself will be very disappointed.
I'll be honest right now...I'm thinking of maybe returning to school up here at Southern next year. We shall see...
see ya.

what do you want to do with that?

I get this question multiple times a week. I guess it comes with being a twenty-year old college student. It starts off with somebody asking what I am studying in school. I tell them "journalism." Then they ask the question that is in the title of this blog..."what do you want to do with that?" I then proceed to give them a half-effort answer. I say something like "well I like the radio field and wouldn't mind doing something in the radio industry, but I just don't know
right now."
The truth? I think I do know what I want to do. However, I am sometimes intimidated by what others will think about my career aspirations. Why do I think like that? Well because I don't want to just be a doctor or a lawyer or a whatever. I want to pursue a dream that few do and that few succeed at. I want to work in the radio industry.
I want to not just be some dude who helps out with promotions every once in awhile. I want to one day have an on-air position at some radio station. I want to start in overnights, then move to evenings, and then one day host a morning show. Somehow, I would also love to be able to spend some years calling baseball games on the radio. I would love to develop my own show and eventually offer it for syndication on small market radio stations around the country. I also would not mind being a promotions director as well while hosting a show. I want to wake up at 3AM to get ready to go do a 6AM-10AM radio show every morning. I know I can do this. I definitely have it in me. That would be my ideal job situation one day. Now do I think that all of this can happen? Yes. Will all these dreams come true? Probably not all of them, but I would like to think that some of them will.
So if you or anyone else ever asks me what I want to do when it comes to a career, I probably will not give you the long answer I just typed out. More than likely, I will answer with a "I'm not totally sure yet." But that's because I just don't want you to think in your head "oh that young man is dreaming too big and complicated." I don't want to cause you stress or create any drama about it.
that's all.

learning to fly

well the sabbath has come and gone. for me, it's always a welcomed day of rest. the guy who preached today was a nice change of pace. very good sermon that ended right at noon. gotta love it!
I am currently on the pursuit to find as many local food establishments as I can in my area. I am sick of wasting my money on the same crappy food from big corporate chains. I would much rather spend my money at locally owned and operated restaurants. So far, I've found quite a few pretty good places.
If you're just surfing around on the internet and want to listen to some good music, check out THIS SITE.
The clock is ticking faster and faster, and I must soon make a decision about what I want to do this next school year. I do know one thing for sure...I do not want to attend GA State any longer. What are my options? Well I'm glad you asked...
Return to Chattanooga? Transfer to UGA? Do the year-long missionary thing? Move out west for the heck of it? Something else?
I just do not know right now.
NEW SNL tonight...ellen page from Juno is hosting...should be a good show. rumor is that hillary clinton will make a cameo tonight...we shall see.
period.

leap day massacre

WARNING: I'm a nerd when it comes to following the comings and goings and such in the Atlanta radio world.
So for a person like me, late 2007/2008 has been crazy. The world of Atlanta radio has changed so much in the past few months. Let's take a trip down "Recent Atlanta Radio Changes Lane"...
Well working our way down the dial, we start with 92.9 dave fm. During the last few months, they have added a new morning show entitled the Zakk Tyler Show, which sucks.
Star 94 canned Steve and Vikki and brought in The Morning Mess from Indianapolis. They're okay, but they seem a little cheesey and out of their element, which seems to be small market hackey radio.
So that's TWO new morning shows already in Atlanta during the last few months.
Next, we come to 94.9 The Bull who also added a new morning show with country parody singer Cledus T Judd. I think they've made some smart decisions recently, which is surprising considering that they're owned by Clear Channel.
Next comes 95.5 The Beat, I don't listen and I don't believe anything major has happened there recently, so next.....
Project 9-6-1, or as some say project 9-sucks-1. They blow. And their GIANT morning show sucks.
97.1 The River: eh...what an awful excuse for a radio station. It's a stinkin' jukebox that plays the same crappy 250 songs over and over and over and over. Oh and hey 97.1 The River, stop calling yourselves "NEW" cause you ain't no mo. fo shizzle.
B98.5: The announcement was recently made that former Star 94 morning show, Steve and Vikki, will be reviving their morning show on B98.5 this summer, which means that long time morning show, Kelly and Alpha (which is two dudes by the way, seriously) are out. I approve of this move. A smart move by the Cox sisters.
Q100 at 99.7: we all now what happened here...99x is gone and queer 100 moves up to a better signal to take on star 94. smart move.
Now here's the best recent move in my opinion....Rock 100.5 now occupies q100's old frequency and adds The Regular Guys as their morning show. Yeah C'mon!!! Best morning show ever.
So now here's where today's news comes into play...Kicks 101.5 and Eagle 106.7, which are owned by the same company, fired 12 of 15 on-air folks today between the two stations. rumor is that 106.7 will be flipping formats very soon. The biggest name gone is Atlanta country radio legend Rhubarb Jones. A very sad day for atlanta country radio. The Biggest Winner b/c of today's move: well it should be 94.9 The Bull, but knowing clear channel, they'll find a way to mess this gift up. They need to add a live person to afternoon drive and stop voice tracking with cledus and the "t party."
So 92.9, 94.1, 94.9, 98.5, 100.5, 101.5, and 106.7 will all have had new morning shows within the past few months. That's unheard of. I would hate to be hoping to pursue a job one day in the radio world; the future does not look too bright....oh wait.
I may be wrong, but I believe that after all these moves are complete, Kevin and Taylor will be the longest running morning show in Atlanta over at 104.7 The Fish. Bert and his gang may have been here a tad longer, I'm not totally sure.
Anyways, what an interesting time for Atlanta radio.
If you read all of that...you have no life.
I am so geeked up on coffee now...
So I went and saw Will Ferrel's new movie, Semi-Pro, at a midnight screening last night. I must say that I was a tad disappointed. It was funny, but not anchorman or talladega nights funny. The best part was Will Arnett's character. That dude is a funny man. He also played Gob in the awesomely amazing show Arrested Development, which I hear may be revived as a movie soon. That would be super.
my mind is all over the place right now as I listen to avril lavigne and miley cyrus and tom petty blast out of my speakers. what a weird mix.
and as miley says...the next we hang out, i'll redeem myself...with more coherent thoughts.
the last time i freaked out! my best leslie just said, oh she's just being miley....oh whoa oh whoaa.
word of the day: formaldehyde.

new adventures?

Is there something wrong with me? When I don't seem totally up to snuff, I spend money. I bought shirts, books, and magazines today. I seem to do this when I don't feel my best. Is my judgement getting the best of me during these times? It's not like I'm depressed and to ease the pain I spend a lot of money. I spend money when I feel physically weaker than usual. weird.
American Idol Results tonight! After this week's performances, it's more like American Idull. Am I right?
So who's gone tonight? I'm not sure about the guys...mainly b/c I cannot remember all of their names. But I do know who will leave the female group tonight...that Amanda chick who is a rocker and the black girl who may have a little rosie/ellen syndrome in her.
until next time...

Some Thoughts
So for now I am putting my run for president on-hold. I am still running for president in 2024, but I am not going to talk much about it for....a few years.
Here's a segment I call..."Recent Random Thoughts":
One of the things that annoys me most is people who are not reliable or dependable. People who say they are going to do something, but then they never do. It bugs me so much. I am the type of person that once my mind is made up about something, it's going to happen.
Another thing that bothers me: manipulative people. I'm just now starting to realize that almost everybody is manipulative in one or another. Very few people are honest and real these days. It seems that most people always have an ulterior motive for what they are saying or doing. I don't understand that at all. People won't just ask for what they want or be honest about anything. I can't stand folks who beat around the bush. Just do or say it. My mind does not even comprehend this type of thinking. If I want something or whatever, I will just say or do it. If I'm too scared or whatever the reason to ask or do, I won't do it. But I will never beat around the bush to get what I want or will I ever try to be manipulative to get what I want.
Moderation is one of the many keys to life.
I just want to do what I want to do. I want to begin to chase my dreams and start my career now. I wish school were not necessary right now.
The west coast is calling me. Will I answer this time?
Leeland, a Christian rock/pop-ish band just released their second cd, and I must say that it is very good, especially the song "Opposite Ways." All should check it out.
that is all for now.
good night
and
good grief.
P.S. I'm trying to find the perfect sign-off for when I end my entries. The one above is my first shot at it. I have a few others up my sleeve, so we'll see what works.
